The International Registration Plan (IRP) is a cooperative agreement among U.S. states and Canadian provinces that allows commercial vehicles to operate across multiple jurisdictions with one set of apportioned license plates.
Instead of registering separately in each state, carriers pay a proportional registration fee based on:
