NY 3 DAY HUT PERMIT

You need a New York 3-Day HUT Permit (also called a Trip Certificate) when your truck is entering New York only occasionally and you do not have a permanent NY HUT registration/sticker. It is commonly used for one-time or short trips into New York.
NY 3 DAY HUT PERMIT

You generally need it if your vehicle:

  • Operates in New York State highways

  • Has a gross weight over 18,000 lbs
  • Is making a temporary or occasional trip into NY
  • Does not already have a permanent NY HUT certificate/decal

The temporary NY HUT permit:

  • Is valid for 72 hours (3 days)

  • Replaces the annual HUT registration for that short trip
  • Is intended for occasional carriers and one-time hauls
